Mockingjay fails to impress at US box office
The final instalment in the Hunger Games movie franchise - Mockingjay - Part 2 has failed to take off at the box office, raking in $101m at the US box office this weekend.
The figure is the lowest opening haul of the four-film series.
Although the studio, Lionsgate says that only 34 movie sin history have ever opened to a box office of more than $100m in the US, the movie's takings was down 17% on Mockingjay - Part 1 and its opening weekend of $121m.
The studio's decision to split the final novel saga into two movies on the big screen may have contributed to the the less-than-spectacular box office, according to movie critics.
